About Experience China
Experience China is an independent English-language guide to traveling in China: city guides, UNESCO World Heritage guides, experience-based collections, and a practical planning section. Every page carries a visible "content verified" date, and time-sensitive facts — prices, hours, entry rules — are checked against official sources before publishing.
What this site is
Experience China is an independent guide for foreign travelers to China. It is not a tour operator and sells nothing; it exists because practical, current, English-language information about traveling in China is scarce, and much of what ranks in search is years out of date. The site covers three layers: canonical place guides (major tourist cities and every Chinese UNESCO World Heritage site), experience collections (landscapes, culture, cities, wildlife, food, adventure), and a planning section (travel tips, when to go, itineraries).
How pages are researched and verified
- Structured facts (opening hours, ticket prices, train times, climate data) are compiled from official sources — attraction and railway sites, UNESCO listings, government notices — and stored as data separate from the prose, so they can be re-verified and regenerated without rewriting pages.
- Every page shows a "content verified" date in its footer: the date its facts were last checked, not the date the page was first written.
- Fast-changing rules (visa policy, payment app limits) are flagged as such in the text, with a pointer to the official source to confirm before booking.
Editorial rules
- One page per place, kept current, rather than many overlapping articles.
- The first paragraph of every page answers its core question directly; detail follows.
- Prices and dates are stated with their season or year, never as timeless facts.
- No sponsored placements: nothing on this site is paid for by a venue, hotel, or tour.
If something is wrong
Details drift — a ticket price rises, a booking window changes, a hall closes for restoration. When you find a page whose facts have drifted, trust the primary source in front of you over this site, and treat the verified date as the page's honesty about its own age.
